Happiness comes from Actions
Happiness comes from actions- your own actions. The saying by the Dalai Lama encapsulates the reality of the past, the present, and the future. Happiness is not attained merely by wishing for it; it requires conscious effort.
It is entirely up to us how we utilize what we have received from nature, the Divine, our family, and society- and how, by translating these resources into actions, we foster the growth of happiness in our lives and that’s how we understand- how happiness comes from actions.

How Happiness comes from Actions
Let us consider a simple example: when we offer a glass of water to someone with love and respect, we experience a sense of happiness in that very moment. Conversely, if we commit a wrongful act- even a minor transgression such as lying, cheating, dishonesty, or theft- our happiness vanishes instantly. The mind becomes distressed and restless.
What is at work behind this phenomenon? In reality, our inner conscience observes everything we do. For good deeds, the conscience immediately bears witness with a sense of affirmation; for bad deeds, it generates an internal sense of reproach that causes us to experience suffering. Here we also realise that the root of sadness also lies in our own actions. It also depicts that happiness totally depends upon ourselves.
Therefore, perform every action thoughtfully and with deliberation; for even if no one else is watching, you are certainly watching yourself, if you really value happiness in your life.
